Bye Bye 2011 and Bye Bye Cyd

I hope all you peeps had a wonderful Christmas.

Ours was fairly quite. As usual, most of Christmas day seemed to be spent in the car travelling between family members and also our trip to the crematorium.

Christmas, this year was slightly sad as we lost one of the members of our family. Cyd died just before Christmas. She was a Cornsnake. She was the first corn that Dad had ever had. She was very mild mannered and loved being handled as long as she knew who it was who was doing it. I was never allowed to close to her (or any of the others) but I saw there many times with Dad and the kids as they grew up. Ben (who is now 16 and about to join the army) always called Cyd his snake and he was particularly hit by her death. Mum and Dad's eldest grandkid (Nyle) also loved handling Cyd and his love of all our snakes is because he felt comfortable with her. RIP Cyd.
NYLE & CYD

I hope you all have a wonderful time over the new year and that 2012 is really good for you and all my anipals out there.

Happy Xmas to all my readers

This will be my last blog before the big day. So I would just like to wish all of my readers a wonderful Christmas.

I hope you have all that you can wish for.

I hope that after Xmas I can introduce you to some of my friends. A special Xmas lick to all my friends on Twitter (Lilly, Daisy, Tora, Hector, Billy, Quinn, Tilly) and, of course, to Henry. You are all very special to me.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE

Hot Stuff (Part 3)

I hope you have all enjoyed my comments about the Adonis that is Henry. I am sure that you will agree that he is a very special dog. Our relationship is also special. The intense conversations we have are so exciting. Henry says that since he met me has can't sleep because he is just waiting for our next chat.

Some doubters have asked how a suave sophisticated gentleman from the big city has anything to do with a northern girl like me. I just smile and tell them that once you have had a Yorkshire lass, you never look back

I LOVE YOU, HENRY

Hot Stuff (Part 2)

I don't know much about Henry's past. I have asked about to see if there are any skeletons in his cupboard but all I hear are good things. His Mummy says he is an angel but she would!. Some people say that he used to be "a bit of a lad" and he was a fancy dresser. Some say he even had a perm once but I can't believe that.

But I don't care what people say about him. I know his heart belongs to me now and that he would never even look at another bird

Hot Stuff (Part 1)

This is my fella.

His name is Henry and he lives in London. Which makes him really important. I think he must run the country or something. That's what happens in London. I have heard that London is bigger than Rovram (but I am yet to be convinced)

We met on the tinterweb. We both tweet a bit too much. When I first laid eyes on him, it was love at first bite. He has muscles in his drool. We haven't actually met yet but we is in love. His Mum is very protective of him but I am sure I can charm him away from her and we can be together for ever.

Henry says that when he was growing up, he only ever thought about food but now that he has met me, he never even looks at food because he is thinking of me all of the time.

I will tell you more about Henry in my next blog. If I write too much about him at once I get a bit faint!

I am one lucky dog

Just a bit of history about me. I used to belong to my Dad's son in law (Phil). He has a goshawk and a falcon and does all the proper hunting and stuff with them. I was trained to work with him and the goshawk and to do all the pointing for them. It was hard work and we used to go miles but I was good at it.

Then Phil and his wife (Sarah) had puppys. First came Nyle and then Nieve. Phil was very busy at work and I was not getting worked as much so I was spending a lot of time in the house with the mini peeps.

Then Mum & Dad lost Millie (who I introduced to you in an earlier blog). Everyone was sad. Even me because I used to see Millie a lot. Mum & Dad wanted to get another dog and Sarah & Phil thought it would be best for everyone, if I went to live with them.

It was great because I didn't have to work and I now get spoilt. I still see Phil, Sarah and the mini peeps lots but I is always glad when we get in the car to go home 'cause I don't want to work anymore. I love the lazy life.

So, I think I am a very lucky pup to have had a second chance and to be enjoying an early retirement!

This is me and Nyle. He's cool

Winter. Is it good or bad?

Cold nights snuggling up to Mum & Dad in front of the fire. Seeing friends and family that we don't see often around Christmas. Snowy days on the nature reserve. All of these things are plus points for winter but, on reflection, I hate it. I hate it for one reason and this is it:
Dad calls it The Wobble Box. I call it heaven.

Although it is a tourer, it never moves. It is on a site near Bakewell, Derbyshire. Very close to Dad's favourite pub (strange, that!). Some of the greatest dog walking country is so close. We walk down the old railway line, explore the woods and paddle in the river while M&D feed the ducks.

We go there most weekends in the summer as it's only 45 minutes from home. We also spend 4 full weeks up there. The thing I love most about it is that it means M&D are not going to work and it is all about Hieki. Splendid.

The site is closed for two months (December & January) and that is why, winter sucks

I am not an ornament!

This is abuse! I am not a raindeer. Even Rudolph does not have antlers like this! Mum did this to me last night so she can have a Xmas photo of me that she will put up every year as a decoration. I AM NOT A ORNAMENT!

I understand she intends to do the same to the grandchildren as well! What is the NSPCC phone number? If I was you, mini man and mini gal, I would do a runner before we get to your house at the weekend. Save yourselves!

I am wearing a hat indoors! It is not raining in our front room. It is not cold. In that case, why did she insist on me putting it on. To be honest, it is not even my size and keeps falling off.

I only allowed this to happen because she knows where the Wonky Chomps live and I was hoping to get absolutely Wonkied after the photoshoot. But that didn't happen either. A very bad night for dog kind

I is back!

Hi Guys

Firstly, just a very quick thank you to 4 special ladies who have been very kind to me. Thank you Deb, Vicky, Liz and Gina. xxxx

Today, I would like to dedicate this blog to my friend Quinn. Quinn has always liked the fact that I am a Mummy dog. I have, in fact had two litters. To be honest, I hated it. I have now been done so I can't have anymore. It is not all it's cracked up to be. The little sods are so demanding and the sharp teeth make a serious mess of your nipples. And, by Dog, can they eat. None stop punching me with hard heads to turn over so they can eat.

No, I am glad it is all over. I suppose young Quinny is looking forward to being a stud dog. From the lads side, I am sure it is fun but not from mine!

Those that came before!

I am much loved in our house but I hear Mum & Dad talk of others who came before me. I have learned lots about them.

Millie & Murphy were brother and sister. They were German Shepherd/Collie cross.

Murphy was thick. Thick but lovable. He was completely loyal and totally loving. He was bigger and stronger than his sister but she totally dominated him. She was the brains to his brawn.

Millie was more collie looking than Murphy. She was very bright and only needed showing things once.

Murphy died first of a heart attack. Mum & Dad were absolutely heartbroken. Millie lived for another 13 months before she was diagnosed with cancer and had to be put down. Mum & Dad thought that their life was completely empty without a dog so I came along!

Millie and Murphy will never be forgotten. They are often spoken about but I am not jealous. I am what I am and know that they love me for that

My Cat

As yesterday was a very unexciting day, I thought I would use days like that to tell you about my family and friends. Today, my cat

Please allow me to tell you about Seven. Seven is a cat. She thinks she rules the house but I know that Mum does.

Mum & Dad are not cat people but Seven adopted them about 10 years ago. When I say she adopted them, I am serious. She appeared at the house and has never left. M&D would never kick out any animal so they became cat owners without wanting to be.

M&D have offered her to various friends and family over the years but nobody accepted and now they are resigned to the fact that they are stuck with her.

When I first arrived, I was a bit giddy around her and scared her. She scratched me a few times to get me to back off. However, as time has gone by, we have got used to each other and now have occasional nose rubs and have even shared a food bowl together when Mum has put tuna down for us.

Sometimes she is moody and doesn't tolerate me but most of the time she is my best feline pal

My Dad is a bit mad

As many of my Twitter friends (@HiekiTheGSP) will know, my Dad is one of those Truck driver blokes. He has come off long distance work after 25 years of being away all week and now works days for Eddie Stobart. He mainly delivers on behalf of Tesco. He does a late shift which means he starts late morning and is normally done by 10 ish in the evening. However, last night he was delayed at one of Tesco's distribution centres. It was not unexpected at this time of year but I hate it because I want my Dad home all of the time. The reason I think he might be just a little bit mad is that he walked through the door at half past midnight last night and by the time he had fussed me and had a cuppa, it was well after 1 when he went to bed. At 6 this morning we were out having walkies! Even I was tired and I sleep most of the time! He says that so many years of getting up early means he always wakes up early but I just think he is a bit mad!

Monday 5 December 2011

It's cold!

Dad woke up at about 5;30. This may have been helped by me standing by the side of the bed sniffing. We set off for the nature reserve at about 5:45. Dispite a nasty weather forecast, snow was nowhere to be seen. It was sleeting and was very cold. I ran around lots. Dad uses a big torch to see where he is going but I don't need it. I run off into the long grass and the bushes. Dad gets a bit worried when he can't see me for a minute and calls me back. I go back and nothing happens. He could at least, give me a biscuit!

The weekend was great. Normally Dad is either working on one of the two days, he is away at the football or we have one of the Grandkids stopping. This weekend, none of those happened. It was good to spend time with Mum & Dad. On Saturday, Dads brother called in on his was from his house in Leicestershire to visit his Mum in Wetherby. I got lots of stroking and attention so I enjoyed that. Sunday was just Mum & Dad. Lots of snoozing on the settee and a long walk in the morning!

And now Monday morning has arrived. Mum has already gone to work and Dad will be gone in an hour or so. I don't like being left but I know that Mum will be home at tea time so I look forward to that

Sunday 4 December 2011

Hello

Hi. My name is Hieki. I am a 5 year old German Shorthaired Pointer who lives with Mum, Dad,Seven the cat and 4 snakes in Rotherham, South Yorkshire.

I don't know what I am going to do with this blog. I hope it to be a diary of my thoughts and those of my family.

My Mum is great. She works for the government. (I think she must be important because she is in charge in our house!). Dad is a lorry driver for someone called Eddie Stobart.

I have some great friends on Twitter. I love Lily, Daisy, Hector, Quinn, Tora, Billy, Cerny and Henry.
